Newbridge Youth band took part in the Cross Keys Youth Competition last Saturday in Section 1, under the Baton of Adrian Browning coming 5th overall in the contest. An excellent result for the band. What do you think of the adjudication? Aces High A good solid start, watch upper register euphs. A little uneasy from D, I feel the coda is a touch too loud for mp but now we have some robust playing from I and takes us through to a convincing finish. My Love is like a Red Red Rose. Soloist really sings through her instrument, very well done. If I were you I would try to control your vibrato a little more, it's a touch overdone. The band has done admirably well although tuning and balance not always as we would like it. Well done soloist. Singing In The Rain. It's effective! Very well done at E, it's so well together at I, more of the ffp please. Beautifully shaped from N to the end. Well done. Golden Lady. Committed playing from the start but watch the intonation. Good percussion noted from A but the band plays with some spirit and obeys the markings the composer asks. In the coda side drum goes out of sync a little but a strong finish. Well done, a very committed performance just take a little more care with intonation and it could be very, very good. Mr John Berryman, Adjudicator. |
