Weston-S-Mare Adjudication
The Essence of Time, Peter Graham.
Incisive to open and well graded dynamics, it all sounds very convincing. "5" has good balance and shape and leads to a good apex at "7". "9" low brass just lacks direction but some really clean playing follows. 212" effective. "14" lovely Baritone & Horn at "15".. "16" soloists are operatic! "17" a sensible forte. Super two bars before "18". B flat tuba really goes for it! "19" controlled troms. "20" cornets show super accent detail. "22" has panache (soloists) Great Flugel & Horn at "23". "24" flows well (but sometime accompaniments a shade heavy). "26" soloists are musically and technically secure. "28" a lovely balance here. Could have done a little more with final tenuto quavers into "29". "30" don't get complacent! (Baritones/Euph.). Really detailed playing. "35"has drive (awkward downbeat quaver rests are well sorted). Great Build to "42" which is playedwith passion. Great conclusion.
A super performance, and forensic reading from MD. Very enjoyable.
Thank You.Steve Sykes.
