Excellent start full of drama. Well directed, good compound time bright and alive. Some slight intonation problems noticeable. Good Changes of mood interest ting percuscussion effects. (285) Standard dips about here however a very good start to your programme.
Tonight
A little heavy perhaps but good style, again some intonation faults occur! but I am impressed by the musicality. The quality of sound is good but a FF just a little strident. - Another good choice.
I'd |rather have Jesus
Just a little tentative to open quaver not quaver triplet good phrasing and expression soloist with loyal sympathetic support from band. All nicely shaped by conductor. (50) I felt it could be phrased a little better. Never the less overall an enjoyable item.

Confident and assured, syncopation accurate and all very direct. Good ensemble throughout, all well handled- Thanks to director!!! Troms/Euph characteristically effective.
Checkmate Finale
Lively and fierce as required, The bright sounds are very dominant, deeper sounds are to much in the distance however overall very dramatic. Some of the groupings lack clarity, but to your credit you are putting over a performance that is always capturing our attention despite the flaws mentioned.
Overall:
8Well done to all particularly conductor. Intonation at times and lack of clarity in checkmate the only problems.

Such a compact opening - to good effect, 6/8 in good style- a clip or two spoils and a spot of tuning is evident. Effective percussion. Tempo increases at change of key!! There is much to admire in this opening number. Sop and Euph not in tune!! Legato ensemble is tasteful 12/8 not together but settles to good effect. Warm sounds ensue. 3/4 neatly done good ensemble and Xylo!!! 6/8 has excitement. Build to the close losses a little impact in the FF and Euphonium tuning spoils -good close
Tonight
Opening a shade uncomfortable but settles. (8) tasteful. (16) watch the balance and tuning please. Lovely build to (32) and onwards, fine direction here. A pleasing close !!
I'd |rather have Jesus
A shade tentative in the opening solo and I'd like the quaver to be a little broader please. Soloist settles and a lovely ensembles ensues at (17) that Euph tuning has not gone away on approach to (33) bold solo lines heard nicely supported by all. This is all well shaped to (50) confidently played. Close- controlled and tastefully done.

Stylish effective opening this all works fine to E. Good pace to F and good ensembles ensue. (G) Trom leads well and everything falls in to place (I) also. (J) Effective contrasts .Good to close
Checkmate Finale
A good compact opening detail is heard.(40) Low line a little lost 43 to 44, not your best here a shade scrappy 44 recovers. (48) Not always comfortable. There is excitement in the music here so it is better (52) I am not convinced about the balance in the cornets but there is much to commend in the approach to this music. Ending has good drama, perhaps just running out of steam a little. However, there was good drama and conviction despite the minor flaws.
Overall:
8A Performance that caught the ear and had good ingredients throughout well done indeed to all
