Ebbw Vale 2006 Adjudication

Essence of Time, Peter Graham.

Very positive start. Good triplets from cornets. Good dynamic effects. "5" steadies well. Trombones could be more forward. "8" Some difficulties with clarity of rhythms/balance. I have doubts about the mood created (a time to dance/leggiero) but most technical difficulties are overcome.

"15" Soloists very confident if at times a trifle loud. Nice trios from cornets, good shapes. "18" Good bass link. Trombones nearly! I do have doubts about balance (tom toms over zealous. Bass tend to dominate). " A time to mourn" Again very competent playing, just a feeling that this could be more reflective in presentation.

"29" Well controlled. (do I miss cymbol?) Good move to scherzando - troms struggle but most other groups cope well. "42" Nice full sounds, could take a little more upper cornet on the melody.
